Oops! malLika does it again

Does Mallika Sherawat never learn? Two years back, the sultry actress performed at a New Year’s eve bash wearing a skimpy outfit that caused a huge controversy, with even an obscenity case slapped against her.
On Sunday, she seemed to have gone a step further while performing at a function in Mumbai to felicitate cricket stars. Scantily clad in a white and silver outfit reminiscent of Helen’s yesteryear cabaret dances, Mallika grooved suggestively and left little to imagination.

Despite the earlier case still pending in the court, an undeterred Sherawat boasted about her performance even before she stepped on stage. “Two factors that affect the Indian psyche — cricket n... hottie Mallika,” she wrote on Twitter. Soon after the function, the actress posted a link to the backstage picture on the same site.

Sameera Reddy promotes De Dana Dan

Mumbai: Actress Sameera Reddy was spotted promoting her upcoming film De Dana Dan at a suburban mall in Mumbai. All excited about her new film, Sameera dished about her role and more.
"I find it easier to make people laugh than cry," she said.
Sameera spread cheer among kids at a suburban mall on Sunday evening. And she is super kicked about De Dana Dan.

"In De Dana Dan I play the character of a rich girl who is in love with Suneil Shetty. Katrina is in love with Akshay. They don't have money and to marry us they have to make quick money. And everyone knows what happens when you try to make quick money. That is when the comedy starts," she said.
When asked it's been a while since she was the solo actress in a film, Sameera said, "What happened is that the solo films that I was getting weren't good other than Nagesh Kukunoor's next film."
De Dana Dan releases on November 27.

shriya saran moves to mollywood

Shriya Saran has turned a strategist. In a move that is being looked upon as a carefully planned one, the actress has chosen to do a big Malayalam film

She will play the lead along with megastar Mammootty and Prithviraj in Pokkiri Raja, an action-packed masala entertainer directed by Vysakh. Mammootty and Prithviraj play brothers pitted against each other in the film.

Confirming the news, Shriya said, “Yes, I’m doing the film in Malayalam with Mammootty and Prithviraj. My role is the pivot around which the film revolves and it is meaty. I can’t wish for a better launch in Malayalam.” The actress has given dates from January 10 to February 15 for the film which will be shot in Kochi and Pollachi. Pokkiri Raja, which has already triggered huge expectations, is expected to release on Vishu, which falls on April 14, 2010. The grapevine has it that she is being paid a whopping amount to do the Malayalam film, the highest ever paid to an actress in Kerala.

Meanwhile, Shriya has rubbished reports that she is doing a Tamil film with Srikanth. Says Shriya, “I haven’t signed any new films in Tamil. At the moment, I have Jaggubhai and Kutty, which are ready for release in January. I have to complete Chikku Bukku with Arya.”
Meanwhile, the buzz is that she is in talks with a popular production house to do a film with Jeeva, which is to be directed by debutant Gokul. .

DEEPIKA , LARA , JIAH...quit a 'housefull'

In Bollywood they say two actresses cannot be friends, and if there are three in a film, then God save the poor  producer
The same happened on the sets of Sajid Khan’s, Akshay Kumar-starrer Housefull, which also has Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta and Jiah Khan in it. The three in fact were quite a “housefull” to handle. Apparently, Deepika and Lara refused to acknowledge the presence of Jiah. The actress who made her debut with the Big B in Nishabd and then shared screen space with Aamir Khan in Ghajini, is known to be very reserved. So the divas decided to give her ample of  space.

jiah -genelia war hots up bollywood talk

After Katrina and Deepika, Genelia D’souza and Jiah Khan are the latest pretty girls in Bollywood who don’t get along.

A source tells us, ‘It is only natural that Genelia and Jiah don’t get along because Jiah was originally supposed to do Chance Pe Dance. She shot for it but was unceremoniously replaced by Genelia D’souza because Shahid and Ken weren’t very happy with her behaviour on set or performance. So it is natural for her to harbour hard feeling towards Genelia. Shahid hasn’t said anything about Jiah and used to keep a distance from her on the sets but he is all praise for Genelia, whom he calls G. He has also said that he and Genelia make a good pair. All this hasn’t gone down well with Jiah who was left along to sulk.’

The source adds, ‘This isn’t the only reason why Jiah has problems with Genelia. Jiah’s role in Ghajini was unfairly edited, so she felt she got a raw deal after tom-tomming about bagging such a big film. She felt insulted. It was Aamir who would have put his foot down regarding retaining her role but he didn’t. On the other hand, Genelia had a very meaty role in Aamir Khan’s Jaane Tu yaa Jaane Naa, though the film was supposed to be a show reel for Imran Khan.Clearly, Aamir favoured Genelia as he helped her buy a flat in Mumbai, took care of her, and unlike Jiah, who he romances in Ghajini, went out of his way to support Genelia in a film where she starred with his nephew.’

Poor Jiah hardly has any friends in Bollywood and she hasn’t had an easy run. What’s worse is that she isn’t media savvy. Miss Khan was replaced by Dia Mirza in Tumsa Nahin Dekha, her debut film Nishabd flopped; she was shortchanged in Ghajini and then dropped from Chance Pe Dance. She only has Sajid Khan’s Housefull coming up in which Deepika and Lara are the other heroines. Reportedly, they ostracized her on the sets.

Ken Ghosh said, "Jiah did not fit the part in CPD so she was not taken for the film. She has a three film deal with UTV and she'll have to sort it with them. Genelia was more suited to my film's character, so she was taken. There is no scene with Jiah."

When contacted, Jiah was not available for comment.

bhumika in amaravathi telugumovie review

In Amaravathi, did you ever expect Ravi Babu to play the most important actor?  In fact, he is the lead of the film.  In his acting career spanning many years, probably this is the first time that he is playing a non-villainous or non-comedic character.  And, he does succeed in running the show well.  His latest directorial offering Amaravathi, is a suspense thriller, that throws one of the most interesting antagonists in recent times.  The other important highlight of the film, of course, is its technical finesse.

The film begins in a village that was historically known to have been famous for pearls.  Pubescent children Seenu and Amaravathi are friends who love to spend time at the village's lake, with the former going on an endless search for pearls in the water.  While Amaravathi is the daughter of the village's richie, Seenu is the son of a servant maid.  Amaravathi's father does not like the closeness Seenu shares with Amaravathi and warns his mother against their friendship.  On the day Seenu ultimately finds the pearls in the lake, he enters into Amaravathi's room against the wishes of her father.  Suspecting a physical relationship between the two, the father slits the throat of Seenu and throws him in water

After the credits roll, a series of macabre incidents are shown in which an unidentified person goes about cutting babies from the womb of three or four pregnant mothers.  Farther from the crime story, Ravi Babu, an Agent of the Special Task Force, is ministering his wife for the last fifteen months, who is recuperating after a self-inflicted bullet injury.  The maverick investigating officer is enlisted on the tough job to nab the womb-raider, who is on a hunt snacthing babies from 9-month pregnant mothers.
With his sharp wit, he cracks down the criminal in no time.  Tarakratna is found to be a behavioural deviant soon.  Though the audience may think that he is a psychopath, he is a clever criminal in full control of his mind.  Trust, he can control others' minds too.  A hypnotist by choice, he can put professionals to shame.  What is his agenda?  Who does he want to use as his instruments to slice open the uterus of some more unlucky mothers?
The criminal in question does not kill anyone.  He has a care for the babies (you should know the reason by watching it yourself).  Only, the mothers undergo a miscarriage.  Though there is no murders that are taking place, you feel that Amaravathi is one of the most macabre films.  It is not because of the sound effects or any other technical/artistic factor, but because of the idea of separating an unborn from it's mother's womb.  The visuals of pregnant mothers suffering trauma at the hands of the womb-raider haunt you much later too.
Performances in the film are adequate.  Tarakratna is sans moustache and looks fearful making eerie songs or singing old classics.  It is a Ravi Babu in which he is not a soft villain, terrifying nevertheless, that would make us whistle and clap.  Sneha and Bhumika do not get much footage.  So much for a film that was touted as starring the two ladies in significant characters.  Half-two has good content, while half-one seems too short.
Bhoomika, playing Amaravathi, is the cause of the story, but not a part to it.  Number Ten has a special story here - the significance of which we were never told.   Background score by  is good.

All in all, Amaravathi is watchable if you are one who enjoys edge-of-the-seat thrillers

Released on: 3rd December, 2009
